i mentioned in a previous post my "new friends" who share either my love of twilight, fanfiction, and/or rob and that some of us are still in our getting-to-know-you phase.  last night, some of us were reminiscing about the emotional turmoil we were going through this time last year waiting to see if we were going to be added to the list of allowed campers for the breaking dawn part 2 tent city thing. this is when we first started to hook up as a group. part of that reminiscing was rereading the q&a things many of us filled out for twibetween's blog. (remember that?) in fact, that is how two of us "met" for the first time. the link to the blog posting was tweeted from twibetween and jb decided to tweet me a very lovely "welcome to the fandom".
so, as we were reading these old posts and being all nostalgic about twilight movies and our mutual obsessions that brought us together in the first place, i decided to make up my own questions (and recycle some of the original ones) to commemorate the year anniversary of our friendship AND get to know our new group members better.  and then i thought, hey, my blog sucks. why not make it more interesting by sharing OTHER people's answers for everyone to see? if you are at all like me, when you're into something, you find it fascinating to get other's views on it too. and if you are here reading this blog, you must have at least some lingering interest in one of the aforementioned aspects of "the fandom" so you make like the q&a's too.

to start, i'm going to post my own answers. just because they are already done. i'm waiting on the responses and when i get them, i will post them. be prepared. it's long. (if you have read any of the other posts on this blog, you already know i'm really wordy.)

When/how did your Twilight obsession begin? i love hearing other people's stories, if you want to read mine, go for it: here. (if not, it's pretty much the same as everyone else's. just a lot later. in 2011, i watched the movies, loved them, read the books, became obsessed.)

Which is your favorite Twilight movie? i can never choose. i've tried. i love them all for very different reasons. the freshness/innocence/sense-of-discovery in twilight, the heartbreak and angst in new moon, the love triangle and the visual beauty of eclipse, the epic-ness of breaking dawn part 1... but i will go with breaking dawn part 2. it's a great movie AND it has so many memories attached to it now.

What is your favorite song from any of the Twilight soundtracks? very hard question to answer. the songs i love, i REALLY love. the new moon/the meadow song featured on the nm soundtrack from the score is one of the most beautiful pieces ever. i adore any and all muse. i love turning page, flightless bird, my love, shooting the moon, possibility, eyes on fire, spotlight, and a thousand years. but i'm going to have to go with never think and let me sign. rob's voice does things to me…

Ideal vacay? Forks, set stalking, Brit Pack concert, or a non-Twi premiere? i am excited to say the only one i still need to cross off this list is the non-twi premiere. c'mon ny rover!! although, big plans for the return to forks. and ALWAYS down for any brit pack related show.

What is your favorite non-Twilight film of a Twilight star? any rob movie. they all have their merit. (but, i don't feel the need to rewatch the ring of the nibelungs over and over.)

What is your favorite Twilight memory? pity city and forks. anything and everything about those two trips. they were the highlights of my life.

Who is your favorite Twilight actor? um, rob... duh.  but, i also love billy burke. i like pfach in nurse jackie. kellan is lovely eye candy. nikki totally grew on me. so did jackson. don't kick me, but i do still like some of kristen's movies. dakota is much better as an teen/adult. and she does do a voice in one of my favourite movies of all time. michael sheen is pretty awesome.

What has being a fan of Twilight opened up for you? two major perks have come from me coming out of my twicloset ~ i met some of my closest friends, people i would not survive life without now. and i was introduced to the music of sam, bobby, and marcus. if i hadn't latched onto twilight, i would never have met these people or heard this music and my life would be dull and empty.

What is your craziest fangirl moment? moment? as in ONE thing?! i do many silly, cringe-worthy things. perhaps the one i am best known for now is getting completely tanked RIGHT before the bd2 LA black carpet. not my best decision ever. but makes for a great story.

Who is your favorite NON-Twilight vampire? i consistently tell people "i don't like vampires". apparently this is untrue, although i still try to fight against it. i am not well-versed in canon vampires, so my frame of reference is limited. other than twilight, i love me some tvd. stefan, damon, klaus... all awesome. and i cannot wait to see jrm as dracula!! one more week!

Who is your favorite incarnation of Edward (specifically, from which story)? i adore edward in the best i ever had. he's the perfect blend of funny and sweet and, of course, hot. and edward in wisp by cris has my heart. other than those two, i am known for (and made fun of for) obsessing over broken-ward's. master of the universe (even though i only read fifty shades, but changed the names back to edward and bella in my head), clipped wings, just wait, wide awake, fridays at noon, etc. also, i flail for psycho-ward's like in the amazing (and incomplete 😭) buried amongst the begonias by durtynelly.

What are your fanfic hard limits? when edward dies. no. i canNOT. well, there was this one... i won't say which to avoid spoiling which ended in a murder/suicide, but he was a psycho-ward and it totally fit. annnnnnd.... there is a wip.... which i am fighting a losing battle for. but, in general, NO! edward is sacred. you shall not harm him. i STILL cry when he goes over that cliff in bd2. even though i KNOW.
overall, i don't read anything that isn't e&b (unless a friend wrote it 😉). i am squicked out by non-canon pairings. i just doesn't feel right.

What is your biggest ficpeeve? another thing i am teased for is my laundry list of things that bug me. even in my very favourites, there are things that make me wanna rip my hair out and smash my ipad. some of the small things that irritate the crap out of me, but i still plow through, are: the overuse of one particular word, like in one of them (you can figure it out yourself), the word "blast" (or blasted) is used 38 times in the first 7 chapters. mix it up! and when charcters moan into each other's mouths. i am soooo sick of that. multiple badly executed twiquotes make me ragey as well.
i am also obsessive when it comes to correcting spelling and grammar (hence my newfound love of beta-ing). but if it's horrific, i can't deal.
and i'm picky with dialogue too. if it's too unrealistic or just irritating, i may flounce.

honestly, i haven't read enough yet. a lot of authors are good but i've only read one or two of theirs. there are some that i know i WILL like but haven't gotten to them yet.

Why do you read fanfiction? it's my escape. it has the fantasy my life lacks. also, i am a hardcore avoider. there is such a variety of twific out there. i can pick up something with an emotional tone that mirrors how i'm currently feeling and read along as the characters work through their shit, rather than deal with my own. it's theraputic, i guess. and i never have to say goodbye to edward and bella. their love is FOREVER. 😜


What other fandoms do you count yourself a member of? um... not really anything. i love star wars, but really, who doesn't? and i am definitely a weezer fangirl. but i don't really interact much with other fans, so i don't really feel a part of anything.

what i'm reading

"it's over." 
i think people like to tell me this just to be mean. still, after almost a year, i will not let it go. maybe some people consider that pathetic (shut up, YOU'RE pathetic!), but i'm not ready yet. unlike most twilight fans who were following the saga from the beginning or fairly early on, i only came in at the very end (read). i have not spent all that much time with my obsession (although hubby may disagree. strongly.) 
most, if not all, of the hype surrounding twilight is dead. i will still talk your ear off about it if you get me started (so probably don't), but i'm pretty alone in that. i don't give a crap about latching on to "the next twilight". i'm not looking. (i was never even looking for it in the first place. in fact, "strongly resistant" fits.) i am fairly confident that this was a once in a lifetime love affair. and i don't want it to be over. (forever. right?!) so where is someone like me supposed to turn?

i'm told that whole realm is nothing like it was in it's heyday either, but there is still a lot happening for newly written twi-fic. there is ALWAYS something new for me to read. and since i've only been reading it for a year, there is always something old that's new for me to read. 
when i first decided i was going to breech my limits of epov's of the original story and continuations after bd, i asked people what were "must-reads" in the twilight fanfiction world. after i confirmed that i had, in fact, read fifty shades, i was told over and over again: emancipation proclamation, clipped wings & inked armor, and wide awake. my twitter group was fairly limited in the beginning and as i began to discuss it with new people, the list obviously grew. of course, the answers you get reflect personal tastes, but there are a few titles that pop up on almost everyones lists. there are actually quite a few "classics". i haven't yet read them all, but i'm working on it.  
i know there are other people out there who haven't been reading that long or just wanna read more that they may have missed over the years. so, i decided i would do an occasional post with what i'm reading now. (i promise they won't always be this rambley.) 
this first one will be the longest list because i have reader's ADD and can't focus on one at a time. generally i have about 25 on the go at a time. some i go back to regularly, others sit for months. so once i mention the ones on the back-burner, i won't need to bring them up again.

groupme

obvious fact: i am a terrible blogger. 
i promised (and broke said promise) to post stuff about my tent city/bd2 la premiere experience. i also  broke my promise to blog about my "set stalking" experience (if you follow me on twitter, you'll probably  know what i'm referring to). i wisely made no such promise to fill you in on my trip to forks, cause i would have broken that too. 
i still WANT to do all those things. maybe i will at some point, maybe i won't. just don't hold your breath.
there is one thing that HAS inspired me to actually log in to blogger and purge my thoughts. groupme. for those who haven't heard of it, it's an app. similar i guess to whatsapp, but i've never used that so i can't say for sure. it's pretty much a group chat app. the reason *i* like it is because it's like twitter but with only a few people in your feed so there is less to sift through, a 450 character limit instead of 140, and no @'s to take up valuable rant space. 
my first time using groupme was when i came home from tent city and was told i had to download it so a few of my "new friends" and i could keep in touch more easily than through twitter or email (and texting, since all my american friends would have to pay international charges to text me and vice versa). the 4 of us immediately became addicted... some more than others (*points to self*). we "talk" everyday, throughout the day. we've become very close, talking about everything and nothing. sometimes the "nothing" is downright dirty and always hilarious. 
recently, as i mentioned, i went to forks, as did around 200 other twilight fans, for the forever in forks / stephenie meyer day events. one of the events put on by the FiF organizers was a fanfiction discussion group. there my fellow pitycity survivors & groupme girls met a few other totally amazing girls and we kind of completely accidentally pretty much took over the whole thing. going back and forth about all things fic-related for 2-3 hours. it was sort of like speed dating for fic-crack whores. and we totally fell in love.
once i got home, and we were all tweeting each other with only a few words at a time (the @'s taking up so much room, like i said), i thought that it would be a great idea to make another group with ALL of us where we could keep that conversation going. turns out, it was! 
of course, we don't always talk only about fanfiction (*cough* nuzzlef$&k *cough*). rather, we formed a group of 10 women who, although we may still be in our getting-to-know-you dating phase,  support each other, lift each other up when one is down, talk through life decisions and problems, share victories, provide a safe place to vent (or bash... whatever), and mostly make each other laugh (a LOT!).  some of these ladies are old friends and some new, but i already know i wouldn't want to go through life without any of them.  i love you, my fich00rs! <3

the six degrees of robert pattinson

if you're at all like me, you might just be a huge tangled ball of nerves right now. with all the waiting we've been having to endure and postponing of the release of information, you might be having trouble trying to sleep. and let's face it... more sleepless nights will probably arise as we get closer to the premiere date.

well, i have something that might help you. when i can't get my mind to slow down at night, i tend to play little games in my head (listing all the states alphabetically, listing as many types of whatevers as i can, etc.). the other night i made up a new game. try it. see if it helps you. (i also played it the next morning as i was trying to get my brain to function again on what little sleep i had achieved.)

who remembers the game 'the six degrees of kevin bacon'? (a pun of the six degrees of separation) as it was explained to me, any actor in hollywood can be traced back to kevin bacon in six steps or less. fun right?
as we all know, rob's acting career has been on the rise, therefore creating more and more connections. so i wondered if it were possible to play the game with him instead. the answer is yes. yes, it is. and it's sooooo much more appealing than kevin bacon.

to test it out, i decided to start with the original. kevin bacon. here's how that went.

kevin bacon was in x-men first class. so was edi gathegi. who was in twilight and new moon ~ with rob.
only 2 degrees!

NOTE: i'm still refining my own personal rules. hubby says you can ONLY use actors and it has to be a direct connection. i'm if-y on that. can't we use directors and musicians as well? and can it be a relationship link instead of a costar? use your own discretion but make your rules clear before you play, to be fair. ;)

testing out the idea of using relationships and non-actors, i next chose my 2 favourite bands, weezer and muse.

well, muse can be directly linked to twilight but that was no fun. so...

muse lead singer is matthew bellamy who is married (did they get married? they at least have a kid...) to kate hudson who was in 200 cigarettes with christina ricci who was in bel ami ~ with rob.

weezer was featured on the soundtrack to mallrats (with their song "suzanne", fyi) which was directed by and starred kevin smith who was (briefly) in fanboys with jay baruchel who was in cosmopolis ~ starring rob.

just to have a ready list, i decided to use the other men from "my list of 5" (freebies list). johnny depp, ryan reynolds, and brad pitt (who was just bumped for billy burke). (kellan is on my list too, but that connection is obvious.)

based on the fact that all my connections have been 4 degrees or less, rob is MUCH better than kevin bacon!
